OUR STORY

My Advent Angel is a heartwarming holiday tradition of faith created by two sisters.
It was the Eve of St. Nicholas Day and I wanted a better way to make Advent more meaningful for my family.
As a mom of young children, I found it too easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of the season with traditions that were Santa-centric and that made Advent feel like a footnote.
I hoped Advent could be a time for my children to be inspired to focus not on what they would get from Santa, but what they could give to Jesus.
And that's when the idea for My Advent Angel was born.
So I put pen to paper, and soon after asked my wonderfully artistic sister to be the illustrator.
The hope was to tell children the story of Christmas through the eyes of an angel, and to offer families a meaningful way to spend Advent by growing in virtue and doing good.
This is where the idea of the My Advent Angel Doll fits in.
Instead of being good because an elf is reporting back to the North Pole, the My Advent Angel Doll serves as a tangible reminder of the real story of the Nativity and the angels that announced Christ's Birth.
The My Advent Angel Doll also provides gentle encouragement for each child to practice virtue in a special way—for love of Jesus and others, and also because angels are truly watching over us.
It was an exciting project to bring to life. From writing the book, to seeing the stunning illustrations fill each page, to cobbling together the first doll (using a sewing machine from Costco at my dining room table)—it was a labor of love and a lot of fun.
I am grateful to have My Advent Angel for my own children this season. I see the fruits of it in my own family's life and I hope you will embrace this tradition so you can experience it too.
I have also realized you will get much more than a beautiful book and handmade doll—you will instill important values and beliefs in your children.
There is no greater gift.
May the spirit of Christmas shine bright in your home with My Advent Angel this season!
